How We Started
Founded in 2012 by Becky McLendon, God’s Storehouse began in the humble basement of a local organization. In 2016, the dedicated mother-daughter duo of Delina Parks and Kisha Johnson took the helm, guided by a passionate team of mission-minded Christ followers. Together, they expanded the reach of God’s Storehouse, transforming lives through hot meals, a literacy program, addiction recovery support, a food pantry, and discipleship training.
On September 16, 2024, God’s Storehouse found a new home in a vibrant 10,000 square foot facility. After a complete renovation, this former Piggy Wiggly, Oldtown Market, and Grants supermarket—recognized as the heart of Galax—has truly become a beacon of hope and compassion for the community. Alongside our enriching programs, God’s Storehouse now features 10 rental office spaces, a commercial kitchen, a laundry room, showers, and a classroom. It also proudly houses The Turning Point, an empowering educational program developed in collaboration with Galax City Schools and Mt. Rogers, serving as a vital behavior support initiative.
