At God’s Storehouse our founding principle is to unify and bring together our whole community to build stronger and more resilient ways to support and uplift our underserved community members.
Kisha Johnson, a proud daughter of southwest Virginia, grew up immersed in the beauty of her region, yet she was initially unaware of the profound challenges its residents face. Fueled by her family’s unwavering love and support, she embarked on a heartfelt mission to uplift those in need. In 2016, Kisha and her parents, Bill and Delina Parks, took the helm of God’s Storehouse Soup Kitchen, a turning point that would transform lives.
Delina has poured her heart into serving the Twin Counties since 2015. Her journey led her to God’s Storehouse, volunteering alongside her daughter, Kisha Johnson—a testament to the spirit of compassion that runs in her family. In 2016, Delina became Operations Director, and her steadfast leadership has been the foundation for Hope Dealers, a recovery group, and the monthly food box ministry, both of which have touched countless lives. Guided by the memory of her mother’s warmth and
generosity, Delina’s love for her community is evident in every meal she shares and every hand she holds. Her work at God’s Storehouse has deepened her empathy for those facing addiction and hunger, and she serves God and the Twin Counties with a selfless devotion that inspires all who know her.
Bill, a proud veteran of the Vietnam and Gulf Wars, devoted three decades to serving his country before retiring from the Army and Army Reserves in 2009, and later from ABF Trucking Company in 2017. Though he once imagined retirement as a time of adventure with his beloved wife, Delina, Bill instead found a deeper purpose at God’s Storehouse. With an open heart and a spirit of service, he brings a sense of family to everyone who enters their doors—sharing meals, stories, and genuine care. Inspired by his father Thurman’s example of kindness and faith, Bill’s days are brightened by the lives he touches and the transformations he witnesses. As a loving husband, father to four daughters, and proud grandfather, Bill’s greatest joy comes from seeing the love of Jesus and the power of community change lives at God’s Storehouse.generosity, Delina’s love for her community is evident in every meal she shares and every hand she holds. Her work at God’s Storehouse has deepened her empathy for those facing addiction and hunger, and she serves God and the Twin Counties with a selfless devotion that inspires all who know her.
I worked for the City of Galax for 29 years, and served as the City Manager for Galax from 2009 – 2021. I retired with my wife, a teacher for Galax City Schools, in 2021 with the birth of our grandson. We both became involved with God’s Storehouse in 2022, mainly helping with food boxes at that time. Our involvement with GSH has grown as we have become more involved with the various missions that GSH embraces and provides to those in need in our community. Whether it be packing food boxes, serving a meal, or simply listening to one of the visitors at GSH; service to those in our community is something we can all be involved in.
